The Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, or ISPCA, is Ireland’s largest national animal welfare charity, and represents a number of affiliated member societies. The ISPCA and their members help to rescue, treat and responsibly re-home animals in need. Their mission is that through education, legislation and ongoing support, they can prevent cruelty to all animals.

Thanks to the hard work of several member organisations of Eurogroup for Animals, Ireland becomes the 20th EU Member State to introduce a ban or restrictions on the use of wild animals in travelling circuses.

After the Animal Health and Welfare Act (AHWA) came into force three years ISPCA's National Animal Cruelty Helpline received over 53,000 calls. ISPCA Inspectors have carried out 11,065 investigations and over 2,795 animals were seized or surrendered.
