Petition to ban the sale of live fish in plastic bags in Poland

24 August 2020
News
Sign to ban selling live fish in plastic bags in Poland's supermarkets and street markets.

Polish citizens buy about 20 thousand tons of fish per year, of which 15 thousand tons is purchased only for Christmas.

The practice of selling live fish is incompatible with the European Union law on improving animal welfare and morally unacceptable in the 21st century. Poland allowing this to continue is similar to live wet food markets in China, Korea and the US which exist to torture animals and are responsible for COVID-19 and the spread of other zoonoses.
