Partnership agreement with D’Aucy to improve farming conditions for laying hens

On September 13, Welfarm signed a partnership with Cecab, a group of hen breeders from the Aucy group.

At the end of 2017, the Aucy group was the first group of breeders to make the commitment to stop the breeding of laying hens in cages by 2025. Welfarm encouraged the cooperative to convert its 29 chicken farms into cage in open air breeding.

However, for certain cage farms of the cooperative, conversion to the open air is not possible, because the farmers do not have, around the building, the land necessary to create a course (4m² of course / hen are required by the regulations for outdoor breeding). Welfarm has chosen to work with the cooperative to support these breeders towards an alternative solution: Premium “on the ground” breeding with access to a covered outdoor area.
