The Bird Protection League (LPO - Ligue pour la Protection des Oiseaux) announced Thursday that it has filed a lawsuit against France before the European Commission. She demands a ban on the hunt for glue, which the Council of State has refused her.

This "traditional" hunt consists of capturing birds using wooden sticks coated with glue and placed on trees or bushes.

A 2009 European directive banned "methods of mass or non-selective killing or killing" of birds, in particular glue hunting, but provided for exemptions when "there is no other satisfactory method".
