A spokesman for the Itzeho police commented favorably on the occupation of a slaughterhouse.

On Monday masked animal rights activists occupied a slaughterhouse in Kellinghusen. It belongs to the Tönnies group, according to "Hamburger Abendblatt" up to 6000 pigs are slaughtered here every day. Twenty-six demonstrators came early in the morning, chained themselves to fences, unrolled a poster on the roof. The operation stopped for the time being, the NDR reported.

The police carried some of the participants away, cut a couple of chains, distributed places - all in all, the demo went smoothly, Hinrichs said in between. He was on site as the police spokesman.
