Fondation Brigitte Bardot, L214, La Fondation Droit Animal Ethique & Sciences (LFDA), Welfarm and nine other French NGOs signed a joint letter to call on the National Assembly for the introduction of mandatory CCTV in slaughterhouses and for a ban of battery-cage eggs by 2022.

During the Presidential Campaign, French President Macron stated that CCTV would be introduced in abattoirs, as laid down in a bill proposed by deputy Olivier Falorni and voted by the National Assembly on January 12, 2017 at first reading assembly vote. According to a study by IFOP, the French government public opinion institute, 85 % of French citizens approve of video surveillance in slaughterhouses.

Eurogroup for Animals fully supports our French members in this initiative and encourages national and European decision-makers to equally express their support ahead of the vote.
