The International Animal Welfare Summit will take place in Vienna on 24 April 2018. It will act as a platform for the critical issues raised by the overarching theme “Animal Welfare – A necessity for human survival or only a concern for the privileged?”

Is animal welfare an appropriate concern in times of socio-political change and of social, economic and technological upheaval?

The International Animal Welfare Summit 2018 (IAWS 2018) will see Vienna take center stage for the first time in matters of animal welfare at an international level. The summit’s international keynote speeches, talks delivered by experts, podium discussions and other sessions, will focus on the role of animal welfare from a societal, economic, legal and ethical standpoint. An introductory speech will be given by Commissioner Vytenis Andriukaitis.

The IAWS 2018 will be arranged by the international animal welfare organisation FOUR PAWS (VIER PFOTEN), which has been working globally for the protection of animals for 30 years.
