Animal care takers are essential

Animal care takers are essential

6 April 2020
Dierenbescherming, alongside with other Dutch animal protections organisations, urges Dutch government to add animal care takers, animal ambulance staff and veterinarians to the vital sector list.

As these are currently exempted from being seen as essential, well-being of animals is becoming increasingly under a threat. Dierenbescherming reports that animal protection and veterinary professionals do not receive additional childcare support. Coupled with other restrictive measures in place in the Netherlands, it becomes very difficult for them to work, causing negative consequences for health and safety of both animals and humans.

Animal protection sector has been recognized as vital in some European countries like Ireland and the UK.
