Dier&Recht consists of a team of lawyers, veterinarians, researchers and policy officers who use scientific evidence to launch animal welfare campaigns and studies. They aim to make use of legal tools to advocate for animal protection at national and EU levels.

As of November 2023, the country commits to correct this failure, bringing blood farms in Iceland one step closer to closure.

Flat-faced dog breeds, such as the pug and the French bulldog, have been overbred to such an extent that they face lifelong suffering caused by a myriad of physical and genetic conditions. Many of these animals are chronically short of breath, suffer from eye diseases, inflammation of the skin, and hernias. Often their owners have been ill-informed and are presented with unexpected high bills for medical treatments. Veterinarians and animal welfare organisation warn in the strongest terms: don’t buy a flat-faced dog!

Equine chorionic gonadotropin (eCG), also called Pregnant Mare Serum Gonadotropin (PMSG), is a hormone extracted from the blood of pregnant mares. It is used in intensive agriculture to increase the reproductive performance of farm animals such as pigs, sheep, goats and cattle.
