Stop pandemics? Start here

Do you want to help #StopPandemics?

MEPs have the power to make our voices heard and make Europe a safer place for animals and humans

As of 11 June 2020, we, our Member Organisations and EU citizens are mobilising those MEPs who will be working on the the EU Green Deal’s Farm-to-Fork and Biodiversity to 2030 strategies to integrate our recommendations.

The next key opportunity is the upcoming Committee vote on the EU Biodiversity report on 26-27 May 2021. All eyes will be on those MEPs that can play a very important role to better protect animals, humans, biodiversity and help Stop Pandemics.

Wild and domestic animals have carried viruses and bacteria for millennia...

What has changed is the way we humans interact with them

The COVID-19 pandemic is teaching us a painful but necessary lesson.

Respect for animals and their habitats is integral to human health and welfare.

If there was ever a time to be bold in stressing this, that moment is now.

The legal and illegal wildlife trade, urbanisation and the destruction of wildlife’s natural habitats for agricultural purposes, especially for the intensification of animal farming, are combining to push humans, wildlife and other animals closer than ever before, increasing the risk of new pandemics of animal origin.

A unified voice

Our campaign, involving a significant number of our members, is building on this critical momentum.

What we want

We're calling on the EU institutions and national governments to learn lessons from the current global public health crisis by tackling its root causes.

We need you, too

This will only be successful with the active support of European citizens. Stay tuned to know soon how to help.

The EU Green Deal

The European Commission is drafting two crucial components of the EU Green Deal: the Biodiversity Strategy to 2030 and the Farm to Fork Strategy, to be released on 20 May.

The aim of our "Stop pandemics? Start here" campaign is to bolster our calls for these documents to include animal protection related to human health issues.

Based on the content of both strategies, we will fine-tune our campaign actions to make sure that as a next step, the European Parliament endorses our recommendations.

Stamping out pandemics means stamping out animal cruelty, now and forever.
