Along with Martin Hojsik MEP and the Intergroup on the Welfare and Conservation of Animals, Eurogroup for Animals will be hosting an event at the European Parliament, “Breaking Point: Solving the European Wildlife Rescue Crisis” on 13th November 2019.
The event will be organised in collaboration with the European Alliance of Rescue Centres and Sanctuaries (EARS) and AAP Animal Advocacy and Protection. It will provide an overview of the current demand for exotic animal housing in Europe, along with the challenges faced by rescue centres and sanctuaries in meeting this demand. Solutions for improvements in coordination and funding will be sought, along with agreements on the actions needed at the European and national level. Speakers from various EU Member States and fields of expertise will ensure a lively and productive debate.
The event will be followed by a visit to AAP’s CITES-designated rescue centre in Almere, The Netherlands, on 14 November.
