Eurogroup for Animals’s Trade and Animal Welfare Programme will be holding a webinar on "Animal Welfare and SDGs: How should EU trade policy help?" on Monday 15th June from 16:00 to 18:00 CEST.

The webinar will be the opportunity for Programme Leader Stephanie Ghislain to launch a new Eurogroup for Animals report: "Animal Welfare, Trade and Sustainable Development Goals" and will include a keynote speech by Prof. Linda Keeling. This will be followed by the presentation of case studies, including one entitled "The EU-Mercosur deal - a missed opportunity for animals" by Tais Toledo (Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, Animal Equality Brazil), and one on "The welfare of working equids and the SDGs" by Dr Joe Collins, Chief Veterinary Adviser, The Donkey Sanctuary and chair of the Animals Equines Working Group, and one on “Public Health and Animal Welfare”.

This online conference will be co-organised with two MEPS, Marie-Pierre Vedrenne (Renew Europe; France; vice-chair of the committee on International Trade) and Saskia Bricmont (Greens/EFA; Belgium, member of the committee on International Trade). An official from DG Trade (European Commission) is also expected to take part.

This event was to take place at the European Parliament in March, but was postponed at the last minute owing to the COVID-19 crisis.
