For the first time in Spain, when faced with a case of multiple animal abuse, the judge considers a crime for each animal mistreated.

On December 22, 2018, the defendant entered prison. This is an exemplary and unprecedented sentence in Spain, marking a milestone in animal welfare and in the fight against impunity towards abuse in our country.

Five and a half years in prison, 15 years of disqualification for the possession and work with animals and the reimbursement of 7,587'76 euros for veterinary care and attention to animals: this was the sentence, issued by the Criminal Court N. 1 of Cáceres on December 5, 2017, for a man who had about twenty equines in inhuman conditions, causing the death of ten of them.

One year after sentencing, on December 22, 2018, the defendant entered prison for a conviction of seven crimes of abuse and another three for aggravated abuse.
