At the end of February, YouGov conducted a consumer study, which clearly shows that Swedish consumers believe that animal welfare is of great importance. The fact that the animals are allowed to stay outside is very important or important for 84% of the respondents.

According to the opinion poll, only 11% state that they are prepared to pay for Swedish added value if the animal welfare legislation were not better than in other countries. At the same time, work is underway within the Swedish Farmers' Association to lower the requirements in animal welfare legislation in Sweden. Especially with regard to the grazing requirement for cows.

'Dairy companies often use images of grazing cows in their marketing. YouGov's opinion poll confirms the value of grazing rights and consumers' willingness to pay more for it. It is very important that animal welfare is strengthened in Sweden, not that it deteriorates', says Sebastian Wiklund , head of social policy at Djurens Rätt.
