Each year, the City of Oslo buys food for almost NOK 200 million. Now, the Environmental Green Party (MDG) wants Oslo to commit to purchasing so-called animal-safe food.

The animal protection mark is less than one year old and it was the Animal Protection Alliance that initiated this certification. The aim of the labeling is to ensure animals better welfare by having better space, more activity and a healthier life.

A POWER DRIVER: Lan Marie Berg (MDG) believes the City of Oslo should be a driving force for better animal welfare. The general requirements for animal welfare in Norway are not good enough today. I want Oslo to be the pioneer municipality for good animal welfare, says the City Council for Environment and Transport in Oslo, Lan Marie Berg (MDG) to Dagbladet.
