As the prices of fur on the world market have been low in recent years, all Estonian fur farms have closed their doors, the only one being the Baltic Fur AS in Karjaküla, which is also struggling for survival.

Over the past three years, a company located in Karjaküla, near Keila, has suffered more than six million losses, mainly due to the collapse of the international fur market in 2014, when fur prices fell rapidly, Postimees writes.

In January this year, the company began reorganization, with the closure of some farms, the end of mink production and the layoff of dozens of employees, leaving only a dozen employees to date.
