WELFARM re-launched the poster campaign against pig castration without anesthesia after it was censored in September 2016.

The poster re-appeared in the Parisian metro stations during the agricultural session of #COUIC2018  campaign against piglets castration without anesthesia.

10 million male piglets undergo this practice every year in France which is why the goal of this campaign is to ban the mutilations and search for alternatives.

Castration without anesthesia is a painful practice which is currently preformed on 85% of male piglets in France. Alternatives do exist and are even predominant in several European countries like Norway, Switzerland and Sweden which have forbidden this cruel practice, while Germany plans to ban it by 2019.

WELFARM decided in 2016 to launch an awareness raising campaign as well as meet with the breeders distributors and agri-food stakeholders.

The post 'It't time to end pig castration without anesthesia in France' is modified from an article published by Welfarm in their original language.
