Under German leadership, the EU should also negotiate a new TTIP agreement with the USA. That should face resistance.

The EU should continue to pursue and conclude the controversial free trade agreement with the Mercosur states despite a veto from Austria. The EU Commission is also expected to negotiate extensive trade liberalization with the United States.

The German Presidency begins on July 1st and lasts for half a year. Foreign and trade policy is one of the priorities of the federal government, as the draft shows. "Innovative, fair and sustainable - more Europe in the world" is the motto that was issued even before the corona crisis began.
