The explosion of animal cruelty during confienement

Faced with the growing number of testimonies that indicate animal cruelty acts, Fondation Brigitte Bardot calls the French Minister of Agriculture to react.

Last week Christophe Marie, spokesperson of the Foundation, asked the Minister to recognize animal cruelty as a matter of priority in France and allow the state services to react.

Minister, we are aware of the difficulties encountered on the ground in organizing priority actions, but this is one of them. This is why we appeal for help , we do not want to be simply informed of the acts of cruelty perpetrated on animals but to be able to act, as we have always done, to help all these silent victims.

In 2019 Fondation Brigitte Bardot carried out 3,332 investigations, including 2,358 relating to acts of cruelty. These actions (in addition to legal procedures) have enabled them to take care of 952 animals. This year, due to confinement, these numbers are exploding. State services should recognize the acts of animal cruelty as a matter of priority and start reacting more promptly.
