Dier&Recht

Dier&Recht is a Dutch NGO with a mission to be the animals' lawyer. Dier&Recht consists of a small yet active team of lawyers, veterinarians, researchers, and policy officers, sometimes supplemented by volunteers and trainees. The organisation was founded in 2006 by Varkens in Nood (Pigs in Need) to use the knowledge about campaigning for other animals in need. Dier&Recht believes that animals have the right to a life that meets their natural needs. To achieve this, they campaign on a variety of topics, from disease-causing breeding practices in companion animals to the cruelty-free treatment of animals in the livestock industry. Dier&Recht bases its campaigns on scientific reports and is informed by scientists, veterinarians, lawyers, and politicians.
