A Dog’s Life – The Strays of Sarajevo
The film is the first of a series of documentaries uncovering the plight of dogs in Eastern Europe.
‘A Dog’s Life’, directed by Maria Slough, will accompany you on the journey that brought British actor and animal advocate, Peter Egan and veterinary surgeon Roger Bralow to meet the stray dogs of Sarajevo. The 30 minutes film exposes the inhumane conditions that hundreds of dogs have to endure behind the closed door of so called ‘shelters’. Taking to the streets with Bosnian born Milena Malesevic, ‘A Dog’s Life’ follows the work of this incredible woman who since 2006 has rescued over 1000 dogs and is determined to help further these street dogs in their daily struggle to survive.
The film screening is hosted by Croatian MEP Davor Škrlec (Greens/EFA), with the support of the Intergroup on the Welfare and Conservation of Animals and Eurogroup for Animals. The event will open with a cocktail reception followed by the film screening. An expert panel will then explore possible avenues to tackle the stray dog issues in Eastern Europe and call for EU guidance on humane stray pet population management.
