For Hugues Renson, vice-president of the Assemblé Nationale, who introduced the symposium, "defending biodiversity, linking human progress to the consideration of animals is one and the same fight"

Le colloque de La Fondation Droit Animal, Éthique et Sciences (LFDA) on the rights and legal status to be granted to animals was held on October 22, 2019 at the Institut de France. The interventions of legal specialists and philosophers have initiated rich discussions on the place of animals in our society and the legal regime that must ensue.

Society is paying more and more consideration to animals. It awaits an evolution of our laws and regulations in order to give them more protective rights. In addition to the speakers, several parliamentarians as well as many experts have contributed to the debate on the means enabling law to evolve in this area.
