From now on, it is compulsory in Belgium to have your cat sterilized. The measure aims to solve the problem of overpopulation of stray cats.

Indeed, in cats, 1 + 1 = 6, sometimes more than twice a year. "Let nature take its course" is to give life to 36 cats in the space of 16 months ... and that often amounts to killing them.

Thanks to our campaigns, sterilization of cats has become compulsory throughout Belgium. We also obtained from Parliament a reduction in VAT (from 21% to 6%) on this sterilization. However, overcrowded shelters can no longer cope with the influx of abandoned or found cats. Each year, more than 10,000 cats are euthanized there, for lack of space. Tragic statistics that do not take into account unwanted kittens, which are coldly disposed of in households.

This is the reason why Oscar, our "catmobile", travels all over Belgium to inform and raise awareness about the compulsory sterilization of cats. Driving: Joris Boone, our project assistant and dedicated “Catman”, goes to various events across the country.
