Lega Anti Vivisezione, or LAV, has a vision for a world where every person and animal has freedom, dignity and life. Their mission is to stop any form of exploitation and suffering by asserting animals' rights, promoting the issues and achieving the implementation of new laws. They work towards this through legal actions, empowering activism, and public campaigning.

25 animals, including dogs and primates, were rescued from a research facility in Verona where serious mistreatment of animals was discovered. The facility, which carries out animal testing on behalf of international pharmaceutical companies, is being charged with the neglect and unlawful killing of animals including beagles, marmosets and macaques.

On 24 October 2022, on World Kangaroo Day, Eurogroup for Animals, LAV and World Animal Protection presented three petitions that were submitted earlier this year to the European Parliament's Committee on Petitions (PETI) calling for a ban on imports of kangaroo products. MEPs present in the room showed unanimous support to the petitions. They will remain open and further enquiries will be made.

Yesterday evening, 20th September, the opening date of the Milan Fashion Week, the associations LAV, Humane Society International/Europe, ALI - Animal Law Italia and Essere Animali have projected on the building at number 31 in Piazza Duomo where it is based the National Chamber of Italian Fashion (organizer of the Fashion Weeks) an important and urgent message: “Act now for a Fur Free Europe”.

On behalf of the Italian End the Cage Age coalition, the NGOs LAV and Compassion in World Farming co-hosted an event in Rome with Italian decision makers to urge the Italian government to support the European Commission’s initiative to ban the use of cages, as well as to start the national transition to cage-free systems.
