Dyrevernalliansen works to improve protection for animals in intensive agriculture, fish farming, the fur industry and animal experiments. They also work to strengthen legal protection and effective enforcement for all animals. They specialise in conducting investigations, influencing public opinion through disseminating consumer information, and working directly with authorities and businesses.

The last two fur farms in Norway will be closing permanently by the end of January 2023 according to the country’s Fur Farmers Association, bringing the industry to a close two years before a legal ban comes into force in 2025.

More salmon than ever before died prematurely in Norwegian farming in 2021. The fish health report 2021 from the Veterinary Institute shows that the situation is characterised by a number of different diseases and lice treatments which are a great burden for the farmed fish. Our member organisation, Dyrevernailliansen (The Norwegian Animal Welfare Alliance), is now pushing for mortality to be included in the traffic light system for salmon, so that facilities with high mortality are prevented from expanding production.
