Parikia, the bayside capital, is a boating and transportation hub for the Cyclades region. But it also has many working horses, donkeys and mules and many locals also earn their living from small farms with cattle, sheep and goats, which is where GAWF comes in!

After campaigning for two years, Greek animal welfare organisations have finally achieved their goal: the implementation of the European Commission Regulations (EU) 2015/262, commonly known as the Equine Passport Regulation, by the Greek Government.

Among the many problems brought on by the Greek debt crisis is a surging population of stray dogs and cats. This is why Animal Action Greece (GAWF) created a community neutering scheme which allows private individuals to have local stray cats sterilised at a very low cost.
